Distinguished Alumni Award
History of the Hall of Fame Award | The distinguished Hall of Fame program was established to honor Woodrow Wilson graduates, former students, and faculty who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought credit to the institution.
Nominating Procedure | Persons wishing to nominate an alumnus for this award should include a completed nomination form, a current picture and a resume/biography of the nominee. Nominations for induction into Woodrow’s 2028 Centennial Anniversary Hall of Fame will be accepted from July 1, 2027 until January 31, 2028.
Selection Procedure | The Selection Committee are members of the WWHSAA, appointed by the current Chairperson of the Hall of Fame Committee. Awards will be conferred to recipients receiving approval of the majority vote of the Selection Committee.
Eligibility | To be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame, an individual must be:
- Distinguished in his or her career, life work, or other worthy endeavor
- A person who has supported important causes through philanthropy, with either money or time or both
- A person of high integrity and moral stature who will inspire faculty, staff and students to take pride in his or her recognition
- A person who demonstrates a continued post-graduation interest in Woodrow Wilson High School, takes pride in the alma mater, and whose interest and loyalty are evident
- A person who has been out of school for at least ten (10) years
Automatic Ineligibility | An individual will not be eligible for Hall of Fame induction if one of the following conditions prevail:
- A member of the Selection Committee
- A person who nominates himself/herself
- Graduating classes or groups of individuals
Award Recognition Procedure | Induction awards are to be granted at a date, time and place determined by the Chairperson of the Hall of Fame Committee, and approved by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. Each new inductee will receive a congratulatory letter and an invitation to the awards presentation.
Exceptions | These award requirements and procedures may be waived in exceptional circumstances by 2/3 vote of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

Thank you for making a nomination to the Woodrow Wilson High School Hall of Fame. Your participation is crucial to the continuation of this distinguished program, which seeks to recognize and celebrate our most talented, accomplished, and civic-minded. Nominations of alums are restricted to individuals only. No graduating classes or groups of individuals will be considered for induction in the Woodrow Hall of Fame. Nominations for induction into Woodrow’s 2028 Centennial Anniversary Hall of Fame will be accepted from July 1, 2027 until January 31, 2028.
Those selected for the Hall of Fame will be inducted at a date, place and time determined by the WWHSAA Hall of Fame Selection Committee. If your nominee isn’t selected, we hope you will re-submit the name or additional names in the future.
To be eligible for nomination, a person must be an alumnus or attended Woodrow ten (10) years prior to being nominated. Posthumous nominations are accepted. The Nominator does not need to be an alumnus. Nomination submission requirements are not to exceed 10 pages. You may use website links to news articles and press releases to conserve space. Submission requirements include:
- A good photo of the nominee;
- Current contact information for the nominee
- Sufficient biographical and background information about the nominee that will enable the review committee to assess the nominee’s accomplishments (education, career accomplishments, awards and recognitions), philanthropy, character, and sustained involvement in Woodrow;
- Supplemental information such as recommendation letters, news articles, press releases and award notices that support the achievement and distinguished work can be submitted as attachments; and
- A brief narrative explaining why the submitter believes the nominee should be a member of Woodrow’s Hall of Fame.
Awards will be conferred to recipients receiving approval of the majority vote of the Selection Committee based on four (4) categories:
- Accomplishments - 40% (Career, life work, academics, athletics, artisan or other worthy endeavors)
- Philanthropy - 25%
- Character - 25%
- Sustained Involvement - 10% (Sustained post-graduation interest in Woodrow – time, talent, influence and/or funds)
