UPDATE ON NEW WOODROW PRINCIPAL SEARCH AND PROFILE RESULTS

A Letter from DISD Executive Director, Mr. Aguirre-Castillo

Dear Woodrow Wilson Community,

Thank you for your time, engagement, and thoughtful participation in the Principal Profile process for Woodrow Wilson High School. Your feedback plays an important role in helping us clearly define the strengths of the school, identify areas for continued growth, and name the leadership characteristics that matter most for the next principal.

A total of 151 responses were submitted by staff, families, and community members. Each response was carefully reviewed and analyzed. The summary below reflects the most frequently identified themes and is ranked by the number of responses received, ensuring that the collective voice of the community is represented clearly and accurately.

Please see the summary in the link below:

Woodrow Wilson Principal Profile Results in English & Spanish

What Comes Next?

The principal selection process includes multiple interview stages to ensure a thorough and balanced review of candidates. These stages include*:

  • Community Panel interview - Week of January 26, 2026
  • Executive Director team interview - Week of January 26, 2026
  • Regional Director interview - Week of February 2, 2026
  • Chief of School Leadership interview - Week of February 2, 2026

I recognize that this is an important decision for the community and that many of you bring strong perspectives rooted in care for the school and its future. Please know that your input has been taken seriously and will continue to anchor this work as we move toward identifying a principal who can lead Woodrow Wilson with clarity, integrity, and purpose.

DALLAS ISD DISTRICT 2 MONTHLY TRUSTEE REPORT

Meet DISD District 2 Trustee, Sarah Weinberg

Sarah is a proud product of public schools, growing up in San Antonio, Texas, the youngest of 6 kids.  Her Texas roots fortified her commitment to public education where she has dedicated herself as a community volunteer and education advocate since retiring from a career in finance. In addition to dedicating herself to grassroots volunteer roles, Sarah has served in numerous governance positions for non-profit organizations throughout North Texas.  Her passions and experiences reveal a focus on education, including serving children from all socioeconomic backgrounds and supporting special needs children and adults. In 2019, she served as Chief Strategy Officer for United to Learn, a non-profit connecting Dallas ISD schools to resources through public private partnerships, culminating in the creation of a bold strategic plan to positively impact student math and literacy outcomes in over 50 neighborhood schools.  Through the years, Sarah and her family have been committed volunteers in District 2 schools, tutoring students in math and literacy, as well as volunteering more broadly throughout DISD.

Sarah participated in the Leadership ISD Dallas Class of 2014 and received the 2014 Leadership ISD Dallas Community Fellow of the Year Award, as well as SMU’s Budd Center for Involving Communities in Education 2014 Community Builder Award. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Sarah holds both Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations. She had a career in investments prior to 2006.

Sarah has served as the DISD District 2 Trustee since June 2023.

WOODROW WILSON HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Generations of young people have studied in Woodrow's classrooms, played on its athletic fields, flourished in its arts programs. They have gone on to meaningful and productive lives, prepared for their roles as adults and as citizens. And each generation has looked back at their Woodrow experience with loyalty and pride.

The Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation was formed to ensure that Woodrow’s reputation for excellent education is continued for generations to come. We are committed to supporting educational programs at Woodrow, as well as at the schools in the feeder pattern, in order to uphold the highest standards possible for public education in the city of Dallas in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE | WOODROW FEEDER IMPACT FUNT

Congratulations to the 2025-26 Woodrow Feeder Impact Fund grant winners! This year the Foundation distributed an extraordinary $81,000+ in grants to educators across the Woodrow feeder pattern, bringing the total in grant awards to over $138,000 since the program's founding. This represents the most impactful year yet and this is due in large part to the private funding and donations raised during the Foundation's second annual Fireside Chat featuring Dr. Michael Hinojosa, former Superintendent of Dallas ISD. Many individuals generously gave during this event which enabled the Foundation to support even more innovative projects that enhance learning, creativity, and opportunity for students throughout East Dallas, helping award additional funding beyond the original $60,000 target.

Meet this year's grant recipients and award amounts by campus:

  • J.L. Long Middle School - $22,050
  • Mount Auburn STEAM Academy - $9,408
  • Geneva Heights Elementary - $8,675
  • William Lipscomb Elementary - $8,594
  • Lakewood Elementary - $7,980
  • Woodrow Wilson High School - $7,500
  • Mockingbird Elementary School - $6,327
  • O.M. Roberts Elementary - $5,750
  • Eduardo Mata Montessori - $5,050

WOODROW WILSON HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition to the Grant Program, the Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation also serves as the steward of endowments created to provide annual college scholarships for deserving Woodrow seniors. These funds represent an extraordinary gift to Woodrow as an investment in our students’ potential and a source of encouragement and financial support as they take their next steps.

Current Woodrow seniors can apply to all available scholarships with one application. Eligibility is determined based on information included in the application.
